Sue Matthews
I have 23 years post qualifying experience of
working with young people and their families known to the Criminal Justice
System. I am currently based at the Nottingham Youth Offending team and am a practice manager in the Intensive Supervision team, providing a
specialist service to young people who present the most significant risk of harm
Key areas of training experience
- I am responsible for co-ordinating the training and development needs of Nottingham YOT. I have extensive experience of supervising students on Social Work and Post Qualifying courses, and have been involved for many years in part time
lecturing at local universities about the Criminal Justice System and
effective practice. I am currently a research fellow with the LSE examining the efficacy of community based provision for young women in the Criminal Justice system.
Philosophical statement (re young people / weapon crime)
- I remain committed to providing a high quality service to young people, providing them with the necessary resources and techniques to make informed choices about their lives.
